Our colleague, Mladen Banovic, recently published a paper that delves into the performance enhancement of photonic reservoir computing.
In this research, Mladen explores the reconfigurability of an all-optical nonlinear node based on a Fabry-Pérot laser diode. By benchmarking a variety of tasks with different computational demands, the paper demonstrates how reconfigurability can offer flexible computational capabilities. This adaptability allows the reservoir computer to tailor its performance to specific tasks, striking an optimal balance between nonlinear transformation and linear memory.
Impressively, the study achieves impressive results using a basic delay-line reservoir computer concept with only about 30 virtual nodes. 🚀
